The Instituto de FÃsica Corpuscular (IFIC) is opening a junior postdoctoral position for the LHCb experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. The IFIC is a large joint research institute of the Spanish Research Council (CSIC) and the University of Valencia that covers both experimental and theoretical activities in particle physics and is involved in major worldwide particle and nuclear physics projects. The IFIC is a member of the LHCb collaboration since 2013.
The group has been playing a leading role in the study of rare radiative b-hadron decays and the reconstruction software of the downstream tracker (SciFi), currently being installed, and is deeply involved in the downstream trigger and reconstruction of the Real Time Analysis (RTA) project, the study of polarization and decay properties of charm-baryon decays, and the proposal for the installation of a fixed-target setup coupled to a bent crystal upstream of LHCb. The team is also participating in the readout electronics of the SciFi tracker and the forthcoming electromagnetic calorimeter upgrade.
The appointment is for two years with expected starting date in March or April 2021, with the possibility to be extended for one or two additional years. Applicants are expected to have a competitive research track record in experimental particle physics, be strongly motived to take responsibilities in the downstream trigger and reconstruction RTA and the SciFi reconstruction projects, and take a leadership in data analysis activities of the group. Researchers at an early stage of their career, with the PhD completed within the last four years, and with no nationality restriction are strongly encouraged to apply.
Applicants should provide a Curriculum Vitae, including a selected list of publications to which the candidate has made relevant contributions, a brief cover letter with the statement of research interests, and also arrange for two reference letters. IFIC is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from everyone. Applications should be sent to the email addresses below.
Deadline for applications: February 26, 2021
