TITAN Postdoctoral Fellow

TRIUMF, Canada’s particle accelerator centre, is a world-leading laboratory for accelerator-based science, including subatomic physics. We discover and innovate to advance fundamental, applied, and interdisciplinary research for science, medicine, and business in Canada and abroad. Equity, diversity, and inclusion are integral to excellence and enhance our ability to create knowledge and opportunity for all. Together, we are committed to building an inclusive culture that encourages, supports, and celebrates the voices of our employees, students, partners, and the people and communities we serve.

We are looking for 3 Postdoctoral Fellows to support TRIUMF’s Ion Trap for Atomic and Nuclear science (TITAN). Recent TITAN experiments have focused on precision mass measurements either in the Multi-Reflection Time-Of-Flight Mass Separator (MR-TOF-MS) or in the measurement Penning trap to probe nuclear structure, to study nuclear astrophysics, and to test the Standard Model. Current upgrades include a high-purity germanium detector array and an extreme ultraviolet spectrometer to pursue decay spectroscopy in the electron beam ion trap (EBIT). Research includes an attractive combination of simulation, hands-on, and data-analysis work. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, upgrade of an ion trap and/or detector system working in a team of graduate and undergraduate students. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be involved in all on-line experiments and disseminate results as articles in peerreviewed scientific journals as well as presentations at national and international conferences and workshops. Successful applicants will work collaboratively with the national and international collaboration

Successful applicants will have a PhD in physics either in nuclear, atomic, or accelerator physics or with relevant research experience. Helpful prior knowledge may include high-precision measurements, iontrapping techniques, beam transport/dynamics, charge breeding, ultra-high vacuum systems, electrostatic optics, cryogenic systems, electronics, instrumentation, data acquisition, programming, and data analysis. Communication and teamwork are critical skills.

TRIUMF is located on the south campus of the University of British Columbia, in the heart of Pacific Spirit Park in Vancouver, BC. We offer a competitive total compensation package, including comprehensive benefits, an attractive salary, as well as an excellent opportunity to enhance your career portfolio in a highprofile national research facility.

TRIUMF is an equal opportunity employer, and we welcome applications from all qualified candidates. Your complete application package should be submitted by email to Ania Kwiatkowski, Esta dirección de correo electrónico está siendo protegida contra los robots de spam. • Subject line: TITAN postdoc ad
  • Employment Application Form
  • Cover letter
  • Detailed CV with a list of publications
  • Names and contact information of at least 3 references familiar with your work
